Angelika Olwert and Lukasz Kłosowski, two terminally-ill children from Fundacja Dziecieca Fantazja (FDF-“Children’s Fantasies Fulfilled”) Poland, had their fantasies fulfilled when their "Live the Dream Experience" to visit Atlantic Canada began.
For one week, Angelika, aged 17 who suffers from cystic fibrosis and Lukasz, aged 15 who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy wanted to live their very own fairy tale … Read Their Letters …, and:
SEE the ocean, which they have never seen.
FEEL the ocean breeze on their faces, which they have never felt.
TOUCH the water with their toes, which they have never done.
BE tourists, which they have never been and visit historic and interesting sites.
EXPLORE the breathtaking beauty of our region.
GLIMPSE the whales and be fascinated by seeing wildlife in its natural environment.
MEET new people, make new friends and speak some English.
VISIT their peers in a Canadian school, to share life and dreams - half a world away.
EXPERIENCE and understand the culture.
GO to Avonlea, PEI and visit the House of Green Gables from their favourite book.
All arrangements for organizing and hosting the children's visit to Canada were made by Coalition for Kids International on behalf of FDF-“Children’s Fantasies Fulfilled”. Coalition for Kids International ensured that every detail along the way was a truly magical experience for Angelika and Lukasz.
Angelika and Lukasz flew to Halifax, via London, England on June 4th, courtesy of ZOOM AIRLINES, with their mums, a nurse, and a FDF-“Children’s Fantasies Fulfilled” representative. During their week-long visit to Atlantic Canada, Angelika and Lukasz stayed in Halifax and Charlottetown, courtesy of DELTA HALIFAX, DELTA BARRINGTON AND DELTA PRINCE EDWARD, and lived-out their "dream experience", meeting with members of the community who helped make the “impossible” happen.
It’s wonderful that these two special Polish terminally-ill children chose Canada, and especially Atlantic Canada, for their fantasy. Just imagine - if you had one last wish, where would you want to go, what would you want to do?
FDF-“Children’s Fantasies Fulfilled” receives no government aid or assistance to help carry out its activities or to grant the fantasies of terminally-ill children. Instead, FDF-“Children’s Fantasies Fulfilled” relies solely on the good-will of kind-hearted individuals and businesses and Coalition for Kids International offers its heartfelt thanks to the following sponsors and supporters who made the dreams of Angelika and Lukasz come true:
